Scion "The Siege of Shadow Valley Ranch" Chapter 2: Shadows on the Ridge
After a long, uneasy night at Shadow Valley Ranch, the Scions realize their job is far more dangerous than they expected. A terrifying creature tests their defenses, forcing them to improvise, regroup, and tighten their watch over Kieran’s miraculous herd. As they scramble to secure the barn and figure out how to fortify the ranch, the group quickly discovers that something—or someone—is working against them.
Strange markings appear in the desert soil. Tracks lead away into the dark. And at sunrise, a distant figure is spotted watching the ranch before slipping out of sight. With tensions rising and trust in short supply, the Scions split their efforts: some searching for answers in the desert, others seeking guidance from one of Kieran’s powerful allies.
But the more they investigate, the clearer it becomes that they’re not just guarding cattle—they’re being tested, watched, and perhaps even trapped by forces they don’t yet understand.
About the Chronicle
The Siege of Shadow Valley Ranch is a Scion Second Edition story set a few months after the events of A Light Extinguished. Returning to the scorching outskirts of Phoenix, it follows Hassan, Jesse, Nick, and Gary—ordinary people turned nascent heroes—as they navigate blue-collar divinity: side gigs, strained romances, cramped budgets, and the sudden responsibility of guarding a god-touched herd.
With Wen as Storyteller, and Chris, Craig, Mitch, and Slavic bringing the quartet of Scions to life, this chronicle leans into road-trip banter, workplace camaraderie, and the collision of modern Americana with living myth. It’s a tale about promises that matter, the cost of protection, and how far you’ll go when your word is bound by something bigger than yourself.
