Two topics that seem connected, but really are not: being rich and being famous.
There are very few downsides to being rich. We all know that money doesn’t buy love, or happiness – but it sure does buy freedom. Freedom to chart your own course. And to follow the beat of your own drum. And that freedom is what everyone is chasing. Being rich provides the space and time to pursue those things that are most important to us.
Being famous puts a target on your back. Famous people endure insults, legal attacks from people trying to get a piece of their money, and being seen as an object and not a person. It’s not a normal life, and it’s not a good life. Just look at what happens to child actors, children of famous people, or even people who win the lottery.
In the world we live in today. Be rich. Don’t be famous.
When we’re struggling with a decision it means we’re filtering it through our core values, which sometimes are not clearly obvious to us. They are subconscious for the most part. So, when we’re really thinking about a decision, and we can’t come up with a good answer – we know deep inside that it’s not for us.
So, as we go forward, when faced with a difficult choice, if we can’t decide – the answer is no. Don’t dwell on it. Just accept it’s a 'no' decision and move on to more opportunities that will surely come our way.
Follow your passion. Or, do what you love and the money with follow. This advice is a roadmap for disaster. Instead, do what you love on the weekends. For the rest of the week, start focusing on what you’re good at, a skill that can make you money, and work as hard at that as you possibly can until you become a recognized expert in that field. That’s how you change your life and become happy, fulfilled and wealthy.
Happiness is a story we tell ourselves. It's a momentary, fleeting feeling that changes all the time. Instead, we should think of creating peace in our lives where we feel ok with the world as it is today, while we work on making it better. Peace is a way of living that can bring joy to our lives.
Karma is not a mysterious force that brings vengeance on those who have harmed us. Rather, it is the logical end result of our habitual consistent actions that we take over a long period of time.
