The first episode in a series of Podcasts with Police Scotland’s Human Trafficking Unit DS Stephen Bertram, where he will give insight into the role of the Police in preventing and disrupting exploitation in Scotland.

Andy Hall is an activist based in Nepal who has campaigned for migrant workers' rights across the world, especially in the source countries that supply workers to the Seasonal Worker and Skilled Worker migration schemes.   Debt bondage, unscrupulous recruitment agents, and complex employment supply chains can leave workers vulnerable and desperate and are far more common than most people think. Andy talks about the issues that these populations face and some of the areas to pay extra attention to.

The risks that Ukrainians are facing in Scotland and the UK are starting to become much clearer since the crisis began.  Paul McAnulty Programme Director at Hope for Justice and Joy Gillespie Chief Executive at Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland talk to Shan about the dangers faced by those who are vulnerable and about why businesses need to be aware of the risks associated with using Ukrainian workers to fill the gaps left by the labour shortages.

Lord Vernon Coaker talks openly about politics affecting victims of modern slavery in the UK and the danger presented by the Nationalities and Borders Bill which has been passing through Parliament. County Lines and the increase in UK nationals and in particular children being exploited are a particular topic of concern.

"Andrew" talks about being trafficked and exploited in Scotland and how the SAMS network supported him.  He give his advice to anyone who thinks that they may be a victim of labour exploitation.
