Title: The Going Silent Edition
Hi folks.
Silence can have so many different meanings.
Whether it’s John Cage who uses silence as a reference to the ambient sound that always surrounds us.
Whether it’s the silence expected from IRA operatives as an imperative for success in their struggle.
Whether it’s Jonathan Howard bemoaning how his colleagues and the CDC have fallen into a threatening and complicit silence.
Or whether it’s me hoping to finally fall silent on social media. To finally stop oversharing (but then i would feel even more lonely, won’t i?).
I wish i could be able to handle all the noise. But can’t. In fact i hate it.
Sometimes i escape from the noise into music, in sound looking for silence, which is absurd. How is that for you?
Can John Cage (or someone like him, since he died) please adopt me?!
“The sound experience which I prefer to all others is the experience of silence. And this silence, almost anywhere in the world now, is traffic.”
“To us who were
There is never a feeling
“Words like violence break the silence
“In the quiet
“You know, when it comes to some of the things we did in those days, for some of us it’s easier to say nothing. To keep our memories locked away. You can call me a difficult woman, but I couldn’t live with the silence.”
So there it is.
The new SITV-audio collage.
What do you think?
I hope you enjoy it.
