Happy October, everyone! We kick off the month of Halloween with one of our most well-known directors, Tim Burton. His latest film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children hit theaters this past weekend, so we sat down to talk about the Eva Green film while also touching Tim Burton’s most famous works, the good and the bad. We discuss what we love about his films and where we think he has gone wrong in the past and with his latest, Miss Peregrine.

It’s that time of year again, time for the new TV season! With so much premiering in the months of September and October, we’ve decided just to focus on superhero themed TV series that premiere in those two months. This includes Marvel and DC related series. We’ll talk ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., FOX’s Gotham, Netflix’s Luke Cage, and The CW’s Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. We’ll talk about where these shows left off last season, some expectations for this season, plus our hopes and dreams as these shows move forward, some in a positive direction and others on their way down.

Please be aware that we’ll be talking spoilers from these shows. Anything that happened prior to this season is fair game. We might talk last season’s finales, significant plot points, and where this season starts off. You have been warned.

Batman has a lot of sidekicks. In fact, there are several different versions of Robin not to mention Batgirl, Batwoman, his trusty butler, and Commissioner Gordon, among others. We sit down to rank the Top 14 Batman Sidekicks and then we each throw in our wildcard to round out the 15. We look over each version of Robin plus many other characters who have stood along side the Dark Knight, some even wearing the cowl. This week, we have a very special episode recorded live at Star Trek: Mission New York! This convention was in celebration of the Star Trek franchise’s 50th anniversary, which is officially Thursday, September 8th. We were lucky enough to attend and interview three fantastic people! First up, we have Kelli Fitzpatrick and Derek Attico. These two were both selected as part of the 10 whose personal Star Trek short stories were chosen for official publication in this year’s Strange New Worlds novel. This book series was annual from 1998 through 2007 but has now returned after its announcement last October with winners selected this past April. I was able to take some of Kelli and Derek’s time this weekend to talk about the experience and their process. Next, we were lucky enough to get some time with Al River, a Lead Designer for Star Trek Online, specifically focusing on the console launch of the game that hit PC over six years ago. The console launch happened yesterday, September 6th and is free-to-play on Xbox One and PS4. We go in-depth on the process of bringing the longtime PC game to consoles, details on UI changes, and more.

To date, Marvel and Netflix have joined forces for two seasons of Daredevil and one season of Jessica Jones with two new shows on the way, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. So far, this relationship has worked out incredibly well with the Marvel Netflix series earning more praise and support than the major network series on ABC A.G.E.N.T.S of Shield and Agent Carter. Much like what The CW has done for DC Entertainment, Netflix has done for Marvel. In the spirit of this relationship, we sit down to pitch our own Marvel Netflix series with special guest Russ Matthews. The next movie in the DC Expanded Universe hits theaters this weekend but the Screen Heroes crew was lucky enough to get an early screening. San Diego Comic-Con, also known as SDCC is over for the 2016 year. The countries biggest comic con always brings in the big news from comic book films to TV shows and beyond. On top of that, you get first dibs at the biggest panels of the year, specifically in the famous Hall H.
