AMERICAN GODS – SEASON 3 REVIEW

Welcome to Lakeside!!! After losing multiple cast members, switching showrunners three times and having massive drop offs in viewership, “American Gods” returns for what would be its third and ultimately final season. This season follows Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) who now under a false name has relocated himself to Lakeside, WI where despite his best efforts to stay clear of it all, the tension between the Old Gods and New Gods have begun to rise around him. We’ve enlisted the help of Nathan, Rae, Alex and Santiago to discuss if this last season is a return to the highs of Season 1 or if the canceled season 4 isn’t such a tragedy as all that.

A recent transplant to Austin originally hailing from the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is the Midwest, Nathan Flynn has been a movie super freak since he saw “An American Werewolf in London” way too young and grew up worshipping the James Bond franchise and all things related to Cold War-era spycraft. When he’s not watching movies and being a constant defender of the Tron franchise, he can be found practicing his second biggest love: cooking (having been a chef for 10+ years) and hitting his head up against a desk to write screenplays that nobody reads. Fascinated by the countless worlds that can be visited by simply pressing “Play”, Alex finds himself awash in an endless stream of titles. Whenever a particularly strange title strikes his fancy, he becomes an enamored prophet of this new idea, spreading its good word to whomever will listen. Alex constantly works to improve his fluency in the universal language of cinema. Underneath his mellow facade, he’s a chihuahua, shaking with excitement to be a part of such a wonderfully diverse and welcoming community of voices that share his enthusiasm.

 

 

Santiago Ramos (Screener Squad)

Santiago is a young film watcher from South Texas, currently living in Austin. When he’s not getting raw inspiration piped into his brain with all form of art, movies, and books you can find him attempting to understand the wide world of synthesizers. The rest of his mind is crammed with craft hops and resin but he assures you that it makes for good conversation.
