CAVEAT MOVIE REVIEW

From first time feature director/writer Damian McCarthy comes this creepy and unsettling tale of mental illness, murder, labyrinthine decaying buildings, and the most evil looking rabbit in history. Jonathan French plays Issac, a man who is hired to keep watch over a young mentally ill woman whose father had recently died and mother (who was starkers herself) has disappeared. Doesn’t sound so bad and the money is good but there’s a few CAVEATS (natch): 1- The house where she stays is completely isolated on an island and it is a wreck and 2- He has to wear a harness attached to a chain that goes all the way down to the basement that is measured just enough so that he can’t enter her bedroom. I think most people would say ‘screw that’ at this point, and that’s before they even see THE RABBIT. But Chris, Robert, Brad, and Lewayne said YES to this wildly impressive horror debut.

Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss)

Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, in 1992 Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas, where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. If it weren’t for sad music and scary stories I wouldn’t be as well-adjusted and cheerful as I am today. Moonlighting as a musician off and on since adolescence, I am as big a fan of scores and needle drops as I am of slow zooms, production design, and third act exposition. Just about all of my screen time is spent on international horror, drama, and hour long episodic. Big fan of genre, and the biggest fan of supernatural horror and dark sci-fi with meaningful representation and narratives that use trauma, grief, and grace as more than surface-level content. Also, I read a ton of modern horror novels/comics and stan Matt Berry. In the before times I worked music and film festivals across the US and will hopefully return to that sometime in the future.
