CHERRY MOVIE REVIEW

The Russo brothers disembark from the Marvel train for a bit and direct their first film not in the MCU since 2006’s “You, Me, & Dupree” (yeah, they did that). Apple TV gladly took on the brothers and their star, young Tom Holland still fresh-faced as Peter Parker, and then proceed to cover him with grime. “Cherry” is based on an autobiographical novel about, well, Cherry (Tom Holland, natch). From his college days, to being stationed in Iraq, to coming home with severe PTSD, to becoming addicted to heroin, to robbing banks for the money to get more drugs, this is a film. You definitely cannot take away from it that it is indeed a movie. That you have seen before. Mostly. Ok, so Chris, Brad, and Davey weren’t exactly crazy about this REALLY INSANELY LONG movie that desperately wants to be a Scorsese film (seriously, “Joker”, you got nothing on “Cherry”) but recording the review was bonkers fun. Come listen to us rather than sit through this thing.
