HELSTROM TV SERIES REVIEW

Remember when Marvel announced their “Adventure into Fear” franchise on Hulu that was going to interconnect Ghost Rider and more horror-themed Marvel properties into new shows? Well, all that’s left of it is this vestigial limb, the adaptation of their Son of Satan comics characters, siblings Daimon and (renamed) Ana Helstrom. Their dad was a serial killer, maybe Satan himself, they both had wacky, horrible origins, their mom is possessed by…something and being kept in a Catholic lock-down psychiatric institute, and they have some rather undefined powers. Things are already crap, but then word comes down, Dad may be coming back to town. Look: Chris, Jena, Lewayne, and Neil REALLY wanted this to be good. But…

I first got hooked on movies when I saw Star Wars at a drive-in theater as a kid. Growing up in a small, rural town meant not having access to a lot of movies. In college, that all changed. I couldn’t get enough. I love it all — flicks, films, movies, and cinema. I still have that wide-eyed wonder of that kid watching movies from the back of a pick-up truck at the drive-in.
