HE’S ALL THAT MOVIE REVIEW

“He’s All That” is a remake of “She’s All That”, which was a reimagining of “My Fair Lady”, which was a musical reimagining of the 1913 play “Pygmalion”. So, we’ve come a long way to get to this Netflix “original” film. Padgett Sawyer (real-life Social Media princess Addison Rae in her debut film) is an Instagram influencer in her final year of high school in wealthy, movie world, Southern California, free of the dirt or grime or any sense of reality. She lives with her divorced mother who is a local nurse (Rachael Leigh Cook who starred in “She’s All That”). Padgett discovers her boyfriend, fellow influencer and aspiring hip hop artist Jordan (Peyton Meyer), is cheating on her with a back-up dancer. Padgett is further humiliated when a live stream of their breakup, where she cries to the point of snot dripping from her nose, goes viral. This results in her loss of sponsorship, which is totally a thing social media personalities have. Yeah, paid to post. It’s a thing. To redeem herself, she accepts a challenge to turn the school’s least popular boy, Cameron Kweller (Tanner Buchanan), into prom king. And oh boy, is this going to be a challenge. He has longish hair and always wears a stocking cap. And he takes pictures with an actual film camera. I mean, like, what? What a loser. He doesn’t even have an Insta. He only has a Twitter that he used once, like, five years ago to post only the word, “NO.” I mean, like, this is practically impossible. There’s no way Padgett is going to turn this gross boy with only one friend into the prom king. Like, yeah, I mean, he has like super gorgeous eyes, or whatevs. Nbd. But, like, there’s no way. So, pop your best Snap filters, kick it with a Boba tea, and listen to Rae, Marcos, Mark, and T.C. totally review this movie, okay?.
