MULAN MOVIE REVIEW

**This review was recorded before one of the more recent revelations about Disney’s cooperation with officials in the Xinjiang province that have decidedly and deservedly stirred up strong reactions. You can read more about that here**

Taking their animated classic and removing a lot of the more cartoony elements from it (Eddie Murphy’s talking tiny dragon, for instance) and all the songs, and substituting in more magic and traditional wuxia film elements, Disney thought for sure they were making a version of the traditional Chinese folk tale that wouldn’t piss off anyone. Well, you know what they say about when you try to make everyone happy. That being said, at least one of our crew really dug this new version of the story. The rest…not so much.
