RADIOACTIVE MOVIE REVIEW

From acclaimed graphic novelist and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi (“Persepolis”) comes “Radioactive”, the story of Noble Prize-winning physicist and chemist, Marie Curie. Anchored by a commanding performance from Rosamund Pike, the film depicts the young Maria Skłodowska’s fight to be taken seriously in a male-dominated profession, her romance with collaborator and future husband Pierre Curie (Sam Riley), and her scientific breakthroughs that would forever change our world. Needless to say, Marie Curie is a big deal, but what kind of person was she? What drove her passion for science, and what would she think of the impact her discoveries had on the future? These are some of the questions the film examines as scenes of Curie’s life give way to visions of life-saving chemotherapy treatments and the horrors of nuclear war.
