RESURRECTION MOVIE REVIEW

In 1999 an evil Scottish villain named Fat Bastard stared down a mini me and said “Get in my Belly!”. This hilarious timeless quote is most likely not the inspiration for writer/director Andrew Semans film Resurrection but it would certainly explain a lot if it influenced it to some degree. Margaret (Rebecca Hall) is the living embodiment a of that idea that women can have it all. She is a total boss at work, has a sexy/saucy lover with no strings attached, and is a loving single mother of a wonderfully charming daughter named Abbie. As the baby bird Abbie embarks on her flight from the  nest into her freshman year at college, a creepy looking weirdo named David (Tim Roth) starts to show up ever so effortlessly into the background of Margaret’s life. Soon, it is revealed that David is from Margaret’s past and he has something over her that could control her entire future unless she complies to his every whim. Bradly, Jordan, and Frank invite you to the therapy sofa and praise the brilliance of Rebecca Hall, discuss trauma in fiction as a coping method for healing, and consider whether or not a third act can destroy the good will of an entire film.
