THEY/THEM MOVIE REVIEW
Before we go any further, our reviewers want to let you know that this movie sucks as a horror movie… but we all agreed it had potential and a well-seasoned Kevin Bacon. So what went fucking wrong, writer/director John Logan? We would love to know. You’ve written, arguably, many great scripts including Skyfall, The Aviator, and Hugo to name a few. It wasn’t the directing, you actually did great for your first time. The performances by Theo Germaine, Quei Tann, Monique Kim, and everyone down the cast list was great. Not only did you have Kevin Bacon playing a great asshole, you had Anna Chlumsky, the “girl” in My Girl (Chad has a boyhood crush). They/Them is a waste of great talent on a very confusing script about a bunch of LGBTQ+ kids at a conversion camp who are stalked by a masked killer. With interesting characters, yes, but none of them had enough depth by the third act for us to give a shit. But look, it’s not the worst film ever, though Jordan may debate you on that. That doesn’t mean you should skip it, especially if you’re cis. It’s always good to get a refresher on how not to be an asshole to the LGBTQ+ community. So Join Ben, Drew, Jordan and Chad on this Peacock feature, which didn’t offer a free trial to watch this film. Cheap ass NBC. We cancelled that subscription immediately.

Chad Halvorsen (Screener Squad)
Chad Halvorsen currently resides in Milwaukee, WI, where he produces and edits commercials, films, and everything in between. He was always a fan of film/television growing up, spending days in the Summer, making (terrible) home movies with his brothers. Little did he know that passion would carry on into adulthood. Since 2006, Chad has worked for several agencies in various departments. Shooting, producing, editing, production management, directing, and when forced to, writing copy. In 2015, Chad decided to take the big leap and become a freelancer. Since then, he’s produced content for Lyft, AT&T, Target, and Discovery Network. His passion lies in entertaining people, making them feel better, even for a moment. All the pain and suffering of this business is worth it, if even just one person views his work. Chad is a frequent podcaster, most notably posing as a co-host for the podcast “The Film Illogical Society.”
Ben Glasthal (Highly Suspect Review, Screener Squad, Breakfast Pub, Unstabletop Gamers, Video and Audio Editor)
Born in Boston, then ending up in Dallas, Texas in the early 2000s, Ben has always had a passion for film. He started in film school not long after where he launched MovieReelizations.com where he still writes reviews to this day. He’s since moved to Austin where he has been also hopping on podcasts and both editing and shooting videos for One of Us. A fan of films from almost all genres, and many that predate him more than makes sense, he is anything if not eclectic in what he’s watching at any point. For the rest of his free time, he can be found biking, drinking craft beer, being an amateur photographer, and playing video games by himself or on Twitch. He’s best found on Instagram or Twitter as @MovieReelBen.
