VICIOUS FUN MOVIE REVIEW

This was not exactly my experience of what it was like to be a huge horror nerd in the 80s. For me it was reading and re-reading Fangoria, and dreaming about being a bad-ass final lad confronting serial killing monsters. For Joel, who writes for the Fangoria stand-in mag in “Vicious Fun”, it’s all he’s got. He lives with a girl he lusts after, but rather than express affection for her, he sneaks out of the house after her latest date drops her off, to stalk the guy in question. Ending up at a hole in the wall chinese restaurant that seems to double as a late-night bar scene, Joel ends up getting pretty trashed, loses track of the guy in question, and passes out in a closet. When he comes to, the place is closed, everyone is gone, EXCEPT, a group of very strange people having some sort of support group meeting. When he realizes they’re all serial killers, he tries to bluff his way into making them believe he’s one of them, just to survive the evening but the gig is up when a late arrival to the meeting turns out to be Bob, his roommates former date. Soon the chase is on and Joel ends up finding a reluctant saviour and hero in an unlikely ally. This horror comedy charmed and delighted Chris, Matt, Ben, and Marco and they really wish you’d let them tell you all about it.

Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss)

Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, in 1992 Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas, where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management.
