Dominica XVII Post Pentecosten IV. Septembris
· 1st Nocturn: Jdt 1:1- 2:3 – Nabuchodonosor, king of the Assyrians
o Note: there is an discrepancy in the Douay-Rheims translation (perhaps it is only on the online sources) at Judith1:2, which mismatches the Latin. It switches the “broad” and “height”. I have kept the translation as it is.
· 2nd Nocturn: The Book upon Elijah and Fasting, written by St. Ambrose, Bishop ch. 9
· 3rd Nocturn: Matt 22:34-46 – “Master, which is the great commandment in the Law?” Jesus answers, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is He?”; Homily by St. John Chrysostom, Patriarch. 72nd on Matthew.
· Literal translation of the oration from Father Z’s Blog
