1 Corinthians 7:1-16
I Corinthians 7:1 – ESV, NRSV, and LEB put the second half of this verse in quotes, indicating that this is the question asked of Paul. This seems to match with the rest of I Corinthians 7:2-9, which is Paul’s answer to the question.
I Corinthians 7:3-5 – Husbands and wives are not to deprive each other sexually.
I Corinthians 7:10-11 – This is God’s basic marriage law, which has been the same since Creation – one man and one woman for life.
I Corinthians 7:15 – If an unbelieving spouse is determined to leave, there is nothing the remaining spouse can do but let them go. Nowhere in the Bible do we see that the remaining spouse can remarry with God’s approval. The only exception is if one spouse was guilty of adultery. In that case, the innocent spouse can remarry. (Matthew 19:9; Mark 10:11; Matthew 5:32; Luke 16:18; Romans 7:3)
The word “bondage” here is not talking about being bound under the law. It is talking about servitude. If an unbelieving spouse leaves, the remaining spouse is not required to continue to serve the spouse who left.

I Corinthians 6:12-18
I Corinthians 6:12 – The “all” here is a restricted “all.” Paul is not saying that absolutely everything is lawful for him. He is simply comparing what is permissible for him to do under God’s law with what is actually profitable for him to do.
I Corinthians 6:13 – The body is not to be used for immorality. Our bodies are to be used to serve God.
I Corinthians 6:18 – Some translations (NASB95 and ESV, for example) add “other” in italics, but the body is the agent in all sins that have a physical component.

I Corinthians 6:1-12
I Corinthians 6:1-8 – The “judging” discussed here does not refer to legal action. Young’s Literal Translation seems to make this passage clearer. Some disputes must be settled in civil courts. For other cases, though, they should be able to go before a wise brother in the church and settle it without getting the legal system involved.
I Corinthians 6:3 – “Angels” here just means messengers. There are no celestial angels in the context. We are to judge messengers just like the Bereans did.
See Mark 1:2; Luke 7:24; 9:52
I Corinthians 6:4-8 – Disputes within the church should be settled internally rather than bringing them before unbelievers in civil courts.
I Corinthians 6:9-11 – Some believe that alien sinners are not amenable to God’s law, but this passage refutes that idea. Non-Christians can certainly be guilty of these sins.

God wants us to continually pray to Him.

Ought to be humble (Luke 18:9-17)

II Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6 – It’s not necessarily true that demons are fallen angels. The Bible does not conclusively teach this.
John 9:3 – The man was blind so that Jesus could heal him.
It’s likely that demon possession only happened for a few years in the first century so that God’s power could be demonstrated.
Mark 5:7 – There is no battle here. The demons know Jesus is in charge!
