Many Believers have not developed the habit of reading their bibles. This is because they have not seen the benefit of doing so. Jesus used the phrase “have you not read in the scriptures?” to suggest to His listeners how important reading the scriptures is to understanding spiritual truth.

God and His Word are one. If we spend time with the Word of God, we are spending time with God. Developing intimacy with God requires the same deliberate action on our part as is required in developing intimacy with people.

To build intimacy with God, we must pay attention to the Word of God. We must ensure that we give it our full, undivided attention. The Word of God must take center stage in our heart, in our daily lives and in everything we do. We must put the Word of God first.
