People go to extreme lengths to try to have an opportunity to be picked for elite teams/organziations. Jake speaks from Scripture about Jesus’ chosing of you for His team.

Using the five love languages as a jumping off point, Jake will guide us through a reflection on a recent way Jesus has shown us love. Inspired by Him, we will then be challenged to immitate by showing another person the same sort of love Jesus showed us.

An anaolgy about the way three different people see a path through a city sets the stage for an introduction of three ways to study Scripture. We get the chance to be led through one of these ways as we explore passages in view of the fruits of the Spirit.

Using Jesus’ “I am” statements from John we will share a short testimony of how Jesus has been active in our life.
1) I felt ___________ (a sentence or two of specifics that help us understand the pain)
2) Read one of the “I am” statements from Jesus (verses below)
3) Tell what Jesus did. (2-5 sentences about how you saw Jesus live out the verse(s) you picked)

John 6:35 (NIV)
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 10:9-11
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Coach Jake will talk through why listening is so important for followers of Jesus and some practical tips on how to grow as a listener. Then we will get to put those tips into practice by listening to Jesus right away. have a ten minute timer ready to start when the episode ends and you begin the listening activity.

Each person is guided through selecting a story to tell about Jesus. Then we spent time in groups of 2-3 experiencing Jesus through the stories of others.

Using Psalm 84 as an example, grab a sheet of paper and write out your own love letter to Jesus.

Coach Jake guides us through a time of letting go of the grime of the day by diving into the love of Jesus. John 15:9 (NIV) “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” is our anchor point.
