EP นี้เอาผลการจัดอันดับ programming language ของ IEEE Spectrum มาแชร์ให้ฟังกันครับ อันดับ 1 ยังคงเหมือนเดิมคือ Python แต่ที่น่าสนใจคือ SQL เป็นภาษาที่ควรรู้ไม่ว่าจะเขียนภาษาอะไร และมีสองภาษาที่กำลังมาแรง ก็คือ Typescript กับ Rust

EP นี้ หยิบบทความจาก Stack Overflow blog ชื่อ “Developers with AI assistants need to follow the pair programming model” มาเล่าให้ฟังกันครับ ผู้เขียนเสนอว่าวิธีการใช้ AI coding assistant ในปัจจุบัน เช่น Copilot, ChatGPT ให้ดีที่สุด ก็คือการนำหลักการ pair programming มาใช้ โดยให้ AI เป็น coder และเราเป็น navigator ซึ่งจะทำให้ได้โค้ดที่มีคุณภาพและหลีกเลี่ยงปัญหาต่างๆ ที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นจากโค้ดที่สร้างขึ้นด้วย AI model เหล่านั้นได้ครับ

EP นี้กลับมาอ่านบทที่ 3 ของหนังสือ Rethinking Productivity in Software Engineering เรื่อง Why We Should Not Measure Productivity ครับ บทนี้ผู้เขียน Amy J. Ko จาก University of Washington เห็นว่า เราไม่ควรวัด developer productivity เลยครับ เนื่องจากจะมีข้อเสียมากกว่าข้อดี โดยเธอได้เสนอข้อเสียที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นทั้งหมด 3 ข้อ และวิธีการที่เหมาะสมกว่าในการปรับปรุง developer productivity

EP นี้หยิบบทความจากเว็บไซต์ engprax.com เรื่อง “268% Higher Failure Rates for Agile Software Projects, Study Finds” มาเล่าให้ฟังในมุมมองของผมกันครับ บทความนี้นำผลจากการศึกษากับ software engineer 600 คนจาก UK และ US เรื่องผลสำเร็จในการทำโปรเจคท์เมื่อใช้ agile และวิธีการใหม่ชื่อว่า Impact Engineering ซึ่งผลก็น่าสนใจทีเดียวว่า โปรเจคท์ที่เป็น agile มีเปอร์เซ็นที่ล้มเหลวสูงถึง 65%

EP นี้อ่านส่วนที่ 3 และเป็นส่วนสุดท้ายในรายของ PMI ชื่อ Pulse of the Profession 2024 ครับ ผลการสำรวจแสดงให้เห็นว่ารูปแบบการทำงาน (agile, hybrid, waterfall) และสถานที่ทำงาน (WFA, hybrid, onsite) ไม่ได้มีความสำคัญต่อประสิทธิภาพการทำโปรเจคท์เท่ากับการเพิ่มสกิลของพนักงาน ใน EP นี้เราไปฟังกันว่าองค์กรจะช่วยซัพพอร์ตพนักงานในเรื่องนี้ได้อย่างไรครับ
