Camille and Jesse from Stella Overboard bought a sailboat with one mission: use it to find waves few people ever get to surf.
Now they're sailing through remote Indonesia, chasing swells, discovering unnamed breaks, navigating sketchy reef anchorages, and building a life around surfing and exploration.
In this episode of SeaPeople Live, they share how they saved enough to buy their boat outright, learned to sail along the way, keep their lifestyle affordable in Southeast Asia, and balance the pursuit of perfect waves with the realities of living aboard in some incredibly remote places.

Stop Building the Perfect Boat. Go Sailing.
Most people shopping for a cruising boat eventually end up asking the same questions: Catamaran or monohull? How much boat do I really need? What upgrades are actually worth paying for? And how much money am I about to dump into a boat that Iโll never get back?
Conor Dugan has seen that decision from almost every angle. Heโs cruised the East Coast and Bahamas on his own 35-foot monohull, worked as a professional captain, run large charter cats, and now sells both sailing and power catamarans.
In this episode of SeaPeople Live, we get into the mistakes buyers make when outfitting a boat, why expensive refits rarely pay you back, what the used-boat market actually looks like right now, and why sometimes the smartest move is to buy something simple and โgrip it and rip it.โ
We also get into one of Conorโs most memorable sailing experiences: joining Jimmy Cornell aboard an experimental all-electric Outremer for an ambitious voyage that did not go according to plan...

A Family's Dream of Crossing the Pacific
Adam and Brandy from SV Kaikoa have sailed more than 8,500 nautical miles with their two young children, taking their family from the Chesapeake Bay to the Marquesas in just 18 months. But their story isn't really about crossing the Pacific, it's about choosing time together before it's gone.
Adam dreamed of sailing the Pacific for nearly twenty years. Brandy wasn't a sailor, battled severe seasickness, and never imagined raising a family on a boat. Yet together, they turned a dream that once felt impossible into their everyday life.
In this episode of SeaPeople Live, they share the highs and lows of raising kids while cruising, how severe seasickness almost stopped the dream before it started, navigating one of the world's biggest oceans, overcoming fear and uncertainty, and the lessons they've learned along the way.
One idea changed everything for them: most parents spend the vast majority of the time they'll ever have with their children before they turn eighteen. That realization became the reason they stopped waiting and finally set sail.

In this episode of SeaPeople Live, Logan sits down with Josh & Haley from Cruising Casa and Karly & Evan from Navigating Nietzels to relive their unforgettable journey around America's Great Loop. They share what surprised them most, what they'd do differently, how much it really cost, and why they'd encourage more people to stop waiting and just go.
Together they completed nearly 6,000 nautical miles, crossed their wake after more than a year on the water, and discovered that the greatest part of the Great Loop wasn't the route it was the friendships, confidence, and perspective they gained along the way.
Whether you're planning your own Great Loop or simply enjoy hearing stories from people living aboard, this conversation covers everything from route planning and weather decisions to budgeting, remote work, choosing the right boat, and what comes after crossing your wake.
