He has joined us to a family. And love for that family demands that we remain committed, engaged, invested, and willing to lay down our lives until our brothers and sisters are strengthened to walk in everything God has appointed for them. There comes a time when commitment has to become more than something we say. It has to become something we stay with. Anybody can be excited at the beginning. Anybody can celebrate a promise when it is first spoken. Anybody can rejoice when the inheritance first comes into view. But Numbers 32 confronts us with another question: What happens when I have what I need, but my brother is still fighting for what God has promised him? What happens when my family is settled, but another family still needs strengthening? What happens when I have crossed my mountain, but somebody beside me is still trying to climb theirs? What happens when God has brought me through a season, but the people around me are still in it? Do I say, "Well, I got mine"? Do I settle down? Do I disengage? Do I take my hands off? Or do I say, "I am committed until…" Until my brothers have crossed. Until my sisters have been strengthened. Until our children know the truth. Until our marriages are being built upon what God says. Until the people God has joined me to are encouraged to possess everything He has appointed for them. Until the family has
