  • Judgment of Commercial Babylon
    Revelation 18 presents a divine judgment on a corrupt, global commercial and political system symbolized as Babylon, distinct from the religious Babylon of chapter 17 but equally opposed to God. The chapter unfolds with a powerful angel announcing Babylon's fall, emphasizing her moral decadence, demonic influence, and the intoxicating allure that has ensnared nations, kings, and merchants through her wealth and immorality. God calls His people to separate from her sins, echoing biblical mandates for holiness, while four groups—kings, merchants, mariners, and heavenly beings—react with lamentation, mourning, or joy, respectively, illustrating the universal consequences of divine judgment. The passage culminates in a series of emphatic declarations that all her former glories—music, craftsmanship, commerce, marriage, and even light—are utterly gone, underscoring the finality and completeness of God's judgment. Ultimately, the chapter serves as a sobering warning against worldly idolatry and materialism, affirming that God's justice will prevail and that His people must remain faithful and separated from systems that oppose Him.

  • The God ordained relationship of husband and wife
    ~~~~~~~ No 14 in the series - The Epistles of Peter. ~~~~~~~ **Considering 1 Peter 3:1-7** Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; .....Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.  *1/ Seven reasons to heed the teaching of these verses. 2/ The directions to a husband. 3/ The directions to a wife.* **Sermon summary:** This sermon, drawn from 1 Peter 3:1–7 and Ephesians 5:21–33, presents a Christ-centred vision of marriage as a sacred, God-ordained relationship reflecting the covenantal love between Christ and His Church. It calls husbands to lead with sacrificial, self-giving love—emulating Christ's care for the Church—while honouring their wives as equal heirs of grace and vulnerable vessels, thereby preserving the integrity of prayer and spiritual unity. Wives are exhorted to submit with a meek and quiet spirit, not as a sign of inferiority but as a living testimony of faith, whose godly conduct may draw even unbelieving husbands to Christ. The sermon emphasizes that both spouses are to live in mutual submission, humility, and holiness, grounded in the Word of God, with the ultimate aim of glorifying God, fostering spiritual growth, and reflecting the eternal mystery of Christ's love for His bride. Through practical application, personal holiness, and a focus on inward transformation, the message calls believers—married or not—to see marriage as a divine type pointing to Christ's redemptive work, and to live in a way that invites others to behold the beauty of God's grace.
  • Are We There Yet?
    The sermon, drawn from Ephesians 5:15–18, calls believers to intentional living in a culture of busyness by prioritizing their relationship with God and their spouse above all else. It emphasizes that true wisdom involves seeing life from God's perspective—walking circumspectly, redeeming time, and resisting the temptation to let work, technology, or ministry replace intimate, face-to-face connection. Through biblical examples like Mary and Martha, and illustrations such as the steamboats, the message warns against emotional drift, stress, and resentment in marriage, urging couples to schedule regular, meaningful time together and to be filled with the Holy Spirit rather than consumed by worldly distractions. Ultimately, the sermon affirms that a strong marriage is not incidental but foundational, reflecting God's design and impacting the broader family, church, and society when rooted in Christ-centered priorities and surrendered wills.
  • Biblical Relationships: Clarity, Humility, and Christlike Love for Men
    Biblical relationships require intentionality, humility, and sacrificial love. Drawing from Philippians 2:3–4 and John 13:34, this episode shows that godly men pursue relationships not for personal gain, but to serve others with the love of Christ. This message addresses friendships, marriage, and life in the local church, calling men to reject passivity and pursue Christ-centered relationships that reflect the gospel.   • Purity is Contagious
    On May 10, 2026, Charles Sebold concluded the Sunday School year at New Covenant Church by teaching Luke 8:40-48, "The Woman Who Touched Him." Against a choking pilgrim-festival crowd pressing in on Jesus as He moves toward Jairus's dying daughter, the lesson focused on an unnamed woman whose twelve-year hemorrhage had not only ruined her health but exiled her from marriage, family, sacrifice, and covenant community under the Torah's purity laws. Charlie unpacked the symbolism of the tallit and its tzitzit—the 613 threads representing the commandments and marking the wearer as standing in covenant with God—and showed that the most ritually impure woman in the crowd reached not merely for cloth but for covenant access through the fringe of Jesus' garment. The central contrast was between Old Covenant logic, in which uncleanness spreads and holy space must be guarded, and the inbreaking New Covenant, in which Christ's holiness is robust and contagious: He touches lepers without becoming defiled, and her bleeding stops the moment she reaches Him. Jesus then drew her into the open and restored her publicly with one word—"Daughter"—giving back in an instant what twelve years had stripped away, and showing that the kingdom of God has already broken into the present age in the person of holiness with hands.
