  • Jesus Christ: Our Creator and Savior
Today on "Encounter God's Truth," theology professor Dr. John Whitcomb points us to "Jesus Christ: Our Creator and Savior." Christ is the living Word—and His written Word is true from the beginning to the end! We will consider a number of Bible passages today as we survey important doctrinal truths about our Lord, from eternity past to eternity future. In the process, we will review many of the Biblical supports for the teaching of a young earth—created by Christ Himself. This message was first presented to the congregation of Valley Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, Maryland, where the Whitcombs' son Dr. Dan Pritchett served as lead pastor for many years. We are glad to be able to share it with you.

  • Remembering World War II
Welcome to a special patriotic edition of "Encounter God's Truth." You know that Dr. John Whitcomb was a Bible teacher, author and educator. But did you know that he also served in a field artillery battalion in the Army in Europe during World War II? And that his family has a rich history of military service? This week's broadcast varies from our normal format, as we are going to listen to a portion of a classic interview that Brannon Howse conducted with Dr. Whitcomb on his program, "Worldview Weekend Radio," where Dr. Whitcomb appeared regularly as a guest for six years. They held this conversation in April of 2015, after Dr. Whitcomb went to tour Washington, D.C., on the Indy Honor Flight. They discussed that memorable event, then went into some of the details that Dr. Whitcomb remembered from World War II. We are grateful for Brannon's permission to bring this unforgettable audio to you. Host Wayne Shepherd helps us see how this intimate remembrance of history causes us to learn once again that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end!

  • The Second Coming Of Christ - Dr. John Whitcomb
The sermon presents a comprehensive, literal interpretation of biblical prophecy through a five-stage framework of history, emphasizing God's unfolding plan from creation to the new heavens and new earth. Central to this vision is the belief in a future, literal millennial kingdom where Christ will reign on earth for a thousand years, restoring Israel as the world's preeminent nation, reestablishing the temple with Zadokian priests, and instituting animal sacrifices as symbolic acts of atonement rather than means of salvation. The speaker argues that only a pre-millennial, dispensational view—taking Scripture literally—accurately reflects God's promises to Abraham, David, and the prophets, rejecting amillennial and postmillennial interpretations that spiritualize or deny the literal fulfillment of prophecy. Key themes include the ultimate defeat of Satan, the necessity of personal faith in Christ even in a perfect world, the resurrection and glorification of believers, and the final judgment that precedes the eternal new creation, where sin and death are forever abolished. The tone is urgent, pastoral, and deeply conviction-driven, calling listeners to a personal, lifelong allegiance to Christ amidst the world's false utopias and spiritual deception.

  • The Rapture of the Church
Do you believe we are living in the last days? If so, how should this affect the way we live? Bible scholar Dr. John Whitcomb answers those questions on today's edition of "Encounter God's Truth." He will explain what the final stages of the church age will look like—also showing us how we can have joy in the midst of the difficult days that may yet lie ahead before the Lord's return. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end, as we trust will be evident during this very special short series on Bible prophecy. Later, Dr. Whitcomb responds to a question from host Wayne Shepherd, who asks if there are any signs that show if the rapture is near. May God bless you as you listen to this important message.

  • Pentecost in the New Testament
Dr. John Whitcomb brought us a special message for Pentecost Sunday that we replay on this edition of "Encounter God's Truth." This is part two of our study of "The Significance of Pentecost." The Old Testament celebration of Pentecost was the background for the creation of the church in Acts 2—following Jesus' promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit. In Exodus 32, 3,000 men died following the giving of the Law (which was remembered at Pentecost) after they worshiped the golden calf. In Acts 2, however, at the birth of the church, 3,000 people were saved after hearing Peter preach the gospel. Wayne Shepherd, our host, also asked Dr. Whitcomb about the future of the Feast of Pentecost in the millennial kingdom. Our survey of Pentecost has reminded us once again that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! Thanks for listening, and have a blessed Pentecost Sunday!

  • Pentecost in the Old Testament
This week on "Encounter God's Truth," we draw from the classic teaching of Bible scholar Dr. John Whitcomb, as we begin a two-part study on "The Significance of Pentecost." We open by looking at the Old Testament background of this harvest festival, which God gave as a special time for all the men of Israel to gather for worship. Dr. Whitcomb showed how, according to Jewish tradition, Pentecost in the Old Testament was a remembrance of the day when Moses gave the law at Mount Sinai—when God officially formulated the nation of Israel. Later, host Wayne Shepherd asked our teacher about the Holy Spirit's Old Testament work and whether or not Old Testament believers were regenerated. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! Thanks for listening to it with us today.

  • The Creation Of The World - Dr. John Whitcomb
The sermon centers on the theological and historical necessity of affirming a literal, six-day creation by Jesus Christ, the divine Logos, as the foundation of biblical authority and Christian faith. It critiques modern alternatives to biblical creationism—such as progressive creationism and intelligent design—for relying on evolutionary assumptions and secular rationalism, arguing that they undermine the sovereignty and personal nature of God. Through a close examination of Scripture, including Genesis, Psalm 33, Jeremiah, and the Gospels, the message emphasizes that creation was an instantaneous, divinely orchestrated act by Christ, who is both the Creator and the ultimate source of truth, making faith in Him essential for understanding creation. The sermon further defends the historicity of the creation account by highlighting the literal interpretation of 'days,' the chronological structure of Genesis, and the deliberate reversal of evolutionary expectations in the order of creation, all pointing to God's glory and the need for spiritual regeneration before intellectual assent can occur.

  • Cross, Tomb and Glory (Part 1)
A blessed Easter season to you from Whitcomb Ministries! On this edition of "Encounter God's Truth," Bible teacher Dr. John Whitcomb unfolds the details of the first Palm Sunday, explaining the significance of Jesus' actions in light of Old Testament history and prophecy.
