On this edition of "Encounter God's Truth," Bible scholar Dr. John Whitcomb will inform and motivate us that we may present to the Lord gold, silver and precious stones when we meet Him on the awesome day of judgment for believers. Wayne Shepherd, our host, also asks Dr. Whitcomb what specific types of works we can do that will be considered valuable in terms of Paul's instructions in 1 Corinthians 3:12. This Crosstalk features Dr. Henry Morris III as he recounts the life experiences that led his father to become credited with the publication of a special Bible edition. Dr. Henry Morris III is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Creation Research. Dr. Morris has four earned degrees. He is a former college professor, administrator, business executive and senior pastor. He is also an articulate and passionate speaker frequently invited to address church congregations, college assemblies and national conferences. He is the eldest son of the founder of ICR. He has authored numerous books including: 'The Big Three: Major Events That Changed History Forever,' 'Exploring the Evidence for Creation,' 'The Book of Beginnings,' 'Your Origin Matters' and numerous other books and articles. Dr. Henry Morris (the father of Henry Morris III) lived from 1918 to 2006. He had an engineering background with a double major in hydraulics and geology and was a civil engineer by profession. He taught at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and during those years he corroborated with Dr. John Whitcomb to write the book, 'The Genesis Flood.' That book was the catalyst for the modern creation science movement. Dr. Morris wanted to guide the academic world into thinking of science from a creationist perspective so he worked with Dr. Tim LaHaye in the late 1960's which led to the development of Christian Heritage College in San Diego and from that was birthed the Institute for Creation Research. The Henry Morris study Bible came about from the notes Dr. Morris was making in his teaching efforts and personal study.

God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! Today on "Encounter God's Truth" we consider many details about the events that will unfold—in God's plan—surrounding the return of our Lord. Dr. John Whitcomb is continuing in a series called, "Our Glorious Future in Christ." This latest message includes a consideration of Revelation 1, where John sees a vision of the risen, glorified Christ. Host Wayne Shepherd then inquires of Dr. Whitcomb about some of the differences between Christ's coming at the rapture of the church and His final return at the second coming. We trust that this program, offering a study in Bible prophecy, will be a real encouragement to all who listen.

He will explain what the final stages of the church age will look like—also showing us how we can have joy in the midst of the difficult days that may yet lie ahead before the Lord's return. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end, as we trust will be evident during this very special short series on Bible prophecy. Later, Dr. Whitcomb responds to a question from host Wayne Shepherd, who asks if there are any signs that show if the rapture is near. May God bless you as you listen to this important message.

Title: Truth is Greater Than Love (Part 3)

Subtitle: (EGT) Biblical Distinctions

Broadcaster: Whitcomb Ministries

Event: Radio Broadcast

Bible: Jonah 2-3

Length: 25 min.

Do you know who qualifies as "the worst missionary in the history of the world"? According to Dr. John Whitcomb, it was the prophet Jonah—the prophet that God sent to warn the nation of Assyria in the eighth century before Christ. Is it not amazing that Jonah—who had even tried to escape from the call of God and run away—had no love at all for the Assyrian people, "the most horribly cruel nation in the ancient world, the Nazis of the ancient world"? And yet he delivered the message that the Lord had given him for the city of Nineveh. Dr. Whitcomb views this as an example of speaking the truth—without love. It is still powerful, but it is not God's ideal, nor is it the most effective way that we can minister the gospel, or any of God's Word, which is true from the beginning to the end! With host Wayne Shepherd, Whitcomb Ministries thanks you for listening to this message called, "Truth is Greater Than Love," from our series on "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It comes from a series of sermons that Dr. Whitcomb recorded at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Indiana. We are so glad to have their permission to present them to a wider audience here on "Encounter God's Truth."
