  • Yet Her King is In Her (15)
In our last Study we began looking at the 1st Direction, under Case 3 that John Flavel gave to us under the 3rd Season of life – How public and tender hearts may be relieved and supported when they are overweighed with the burdensome sense of Zion's troubles. On Page 446, John Flavel told us – Settle this great truth in your hearts, that no trouble befalls Zion, but by the permission of Zion's God; and He permits nothing out of which He will not bring much good at last to His people. Now, in this message, I will relate to you his 2nd and 3rd Directions. Direction # 2 – Ponder this heart-supporting truth, in reference to Zion's trouble: That how many troubles soever are upon her, yet her King is in her.

  • Forgiveness For The Greatest Sinners by John Flavel
The reading proclaims the infinite power and sufficiency of Christ's blood to provide complete forgiveness for even the greatest sinners. It emphasizes that this precious sacrifice satisfies both God's justice and the believer's guilty conscience, offering redemption through faith rather than works. The text highlights that the atonement is specifically designed for those who believe, using Paul as a primary example of grace extended to a former persecutor. Ultimately, the message assures listeners that no sin is too great to be washed away if they apply themselves to the cross by faith. This assurance removes all barriers to pardon except unbelief and hardness of heart.

  • Saints in this Hour of Temptation
Counsel I - Cleave fast to Christ, and the profession you have formerly made of him, what aspect so ever the times have upon you. Psalm 44:18, 19, 20, 21. "Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way, though you have sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of the Lord, or stretched out our hands to a strange God: shall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heart." Hence those new converts, who were turned to the Lord in a time of great temptation and persecution, were so earnestly persuaded, Acts 11:23. "That with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord;" that is as they had made a good choice, so now to stick to their choice, and not repent of it, whatever afterward they should meet with.
