But God elected some to salvation, and he works that election through the preaching of his Word. You also learned that while God elected some, God reprobates some also – by leaving them to their own wilfulness. Now why would God elect some to save them? God elected some from love for man. But there is another reason, a greater reason: God had pleasure electing to save some and he gained more pleasure from the elect after they are saved. We will examine God's pleasure from your election. Our headings are: 1. God elected you because he was pleased to do so 2. God did not elect you because you were special Our goals are: That you will have a deeper love for Yahweh, knowing you were undeserving of his electing you, and you will then endeavour to more passionately worship and work for him to bring more pleasure to him.
