The sermon contrasts false shepherds who exploit their flock with the righteous leadership of King David and the ultimate care of Jesus Christ. It emphasizes that true spiritual guidance requires equipping believers with biblical truth rather than merely entertaining them or feeding themselves. The preacher warns against the dangers of unaddressed sin and the necessity of communal accountability within the church body. By examining Ezekiel 34, the message highlights God's judgment on negligent leaders and His promise to personally seek and restore His scattered people. … having prayed for an increase of spiritual knowledge, and that this might be put into practice, he proceeds to pray for strength for them, that they might be enabled to practice what they had knowledge of; to walk worthily, to please God in all things

The sermon warns believers against seeking comfort and security in worldly sources such as politics, wealth, or entertainment rather than relying on God. Drawing from Hosea 7, it illustrates how the kingdom of Israel fled to Egypt and Assyria for help, only to face divine chastisement because their hearts remained distant from the Lord. The preacher emphasizes that superficial prayers focused on temporal needs are rejected by God, who desires genuine repentance and wholehearted devotion. Just as a deceitful bow fails under pressure, those who pretend to return to God without true change will face destruction. Ultimately, the message calls for exclusive trust in God, reminding listeners that He alone provides true help and protection.
