David, faced with fear and uncertainty of present danger and blurring future, he teaches us rather, how to trust God's goodness when all around seen unstable; how to walk thru pain without losing hope and how to wait on God without losing heart. Psalm 27 Blends confidence and lament, bold faith and fear, uncertainty and assurance. David, in his focus in God's goodness, which is – His moral perfection, His benevolent heart, His providential care, His faithfulness and His redemptive purpose. Therefore, motivated by these realities of God's goodness, observed were the four comforting realities found in God's trustworthiness of His goodness. God's goodness is: 1. Our light when life feels dark (1 – 3) 2. Draws us into intimate worship, in-spite of pain (4–6) 3. Hears our cries and holds our tears (7–12) and 4. God's goodness sustains while we wait (11–14) All these concepts' underscores, as Thomas Watson asserted: "suffering is God's furnace for purifying the soul." So, the three hearty conclusive applications, based on our reliance on God's character, are that when faced with any calamitous situation: 1. We must trust God's wisdom when His timing feels slow. 2. We must trust God's character by choosing worship over worrisome and confusing circumstances and lastly – 3. We must trust God's presence when fear threatens to sauce doubt.
