In Matthew 24:15–28, Jesus warns His disciples of a coming time of unprecedented tribulation, deception, and distress. Yet amid these sobering warnings, Christ reminds His followers that He has told them these things beforehand. In this sermon, Pastor Todd Fletcher examines Jesus' teaching concerning the abomination of desolation, the great tribulation, the rise of false christs and false prophets, and the unmistakable nature of Christ's return. Through it all, we are reminded that God's sovereign purposes will stand, His Word can be trusted, and His people must remain watchful and discerning. How should believers understand these prophetic warnings? And how does knowing what Christ has revealed prepare us to stand firm in the face of deception and uncertainty?

Don't you like stories that have a happy ending? You know what I mean. Stories that end this way: "And they lived happily ever after". Stories like that are wonderful. But then… there are stories that end in tragedy. And this is one of those stories. What we have before us this morning… is the story of a young man… who lost his soul! It's a story of a young man… who had so much going for him… and as many people would say… he blew it! Now… what happened to this young man… is the basis of our message this morning! This morning … we're going to be talking about... "The Suicide of a Soul". And what I want you to see about this young man… is the desire that he had… which was a desire for eternal life.

And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen. (Luke 9:36) **Sermon summary:** This sermon examines the Transfiguration account in Luke 9, emphasizing that the event serves as a divine confirmation of the Word of God rather than a model for seeking supernatural visions. The exposition highlights the centrality of prayer as the starting point for spiritual blessing and the necessity of viewing Christ through the lens of Scripture, where the Law and Prophets find their fulfilment in Him. The preacher addresses the disciples' human weakness and partial understanding, encouraging believers to trust in God's timing and to avoid pride or misinterpretation of spiritual experiences. The central message urges the church to focus on the preeminence of Christ, recognizing that when the voice of the Father declares the Son, all other distractions fade, leaving Jesus alone as the object of faith and obedience.
