October 4, 2026 Sunday Afternoon Worship Study of Romans (19) Chapter 8 part 1 (Romans 8) Pastor Kevin Humphreys

Evangelist Dan Souza Preaches The Word

The sermon examines the vision of Isaiah in the throne room of God, highlighting the prophet's profound humility and recognition of his own sinfulness in the presence of divine glory. It emphasizes the theological necessity of cleansing, symbolized by the seraphim touching Isaiah's lips with a live coal, before one can effectively serve or witness for God. The message instructs believers that answering God's call with 'Here am I, send me' requires a heart that has been purified and a willingness to deliver difficult truths, even when the audience is resistant. The preacher connects this ancient narrative to the modern believer's daily need for forgiveness and the assurance that a faithful remnant will always remain, regardless of the hardness of the message or the opposition faced.

"Finishing Well"

This sermon examines the profound influence of human speech, using James 3 to illustrate how the tongue acts as a small rudder that directs the entire course of a believer's life. The speaker highlights the danger of uncontrolled words, comparing them to a spark that can ignite devastating fires, and emphasizes that true spiritual maturity is evidenced by the ability to bridle one's speech. While acknowledging that no human can tame the tongue on their own, the message points to the necessity of divine intervention, highlighting the One who never sinned in word or in deed: Christ. The sermon concludes with a call to rely on God's grace for transformation, urging believers to use their tongues for praise and edification rather than cursing, ultimately pointing to Jesus as the only source of true life and salvation.
