This message addresses the corrupted mind as the great threat to the Christian's Good Life, immediately following the instruction for good preaching and good preachers. Paul warns Titus about unruly, vain talkers and deceivers motivated by "filthy lucre" (greedy gain) who spread false doctrine and subvert whole households, summarizing their condition as having unruly and vain minds, corrupt minds, and finally, reprobate minds—meaning they are disqualified from true good works because their deeds deny their profession of faith. The core issue is diagnosed as a defiled conscience, where the entire perspective of unbelievers is stained by evil thinking, contrasting with the purity of the Christian's mind cleansed by Christ. To cultivate a sound (healthy) mind, believers are instructed to Practice Rebuking Lies "sharply" with sound doctrine to restore spiritual health, and to Practice Renewing Your Mind by replacing the world's empty thoughts with God's truth, thus proving the will of God and protecting the mind with the "helmet of salvation."

How does someone diagnose the health of their soul? Jesus gives us three principles which allow us to evaluate whether we are growing closer to the world or closer to Christ. What we watch, think about, spend money on, spend time doing, can give us a good indication of what we worship. While we may think that many of these things are harmless and have no impact on our lives, Jesus says otherwise. What are we to do - discard these things? Maybe! But first we need to seriously evaluate our hearts. Do we love the Lord more than all? Would we be willing to let go of the things in this world?

What does the sorrow in your life tell you about your heart? It tells you a lot—both good and bad. James is going to show us how the sorrow in our lives is a crucial tool for diagnosing your spiritual health.

Ephesians functions as a spiritual "MRI" as the Spirit uses this divine communication to diagnose your spiritual health. Be forewarned that there may likely be some spiritual disorder the Spirit will uncover as you read and understand God's message in this letter.

If you were sick, don't you want a doctor who knows what diagnostic questions to ask? Otherwise, you'll have one who gives the same medicine for every sickness, and you may die as a result. The Scriptures are a doctor for us many times over. As God's literal voice, it asks penetrating questions to diagnose our problems. As a good doctor's diagnosis leads to physical health, so a good God's diagnosis leads to spiritual health. It is in Romans 2:12-29 that we learn to ask three critical diagnostic questions. These pierce our laziness, convict our sin, and encourage our holiness. What are these three questions? Stay with us and learn.

These set of verses here are used for all kinds of use and proof for the Catholic Doctrine of Extreme Unction: Anointing of the Sick, Charasmatic doctrines of perpetual health, that the saint is not ever to be sick, and if he is, he is to definitely be healed. But what I want you to first see is a series of prescription for the suffering saints with an overall eye towards prayer: The Medicine of The Word: Christ Jesus, The good Shepherd of the sheep always regarded Himself as the physician of His people. Just like every physical condition, once rightly diagnosed, requires an appropriate remedial response: (Burn=salve; Broken leg=set & cast) So too is there a spiritual pharmacopoeia (book of medicine) in The Word God which is intended to be applied in such a way as to address the specific condition.
