We conclude our series in the Book of Judges with a sad account of a man, a family, and a society all fulfilling the words found in the closing verse of Judges... Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.

After weeks of reflecting on emptiness—the Empty Throne, Empty Temple, Empty Lamp, and Empty Womb—we stand in wonder before the manger in Bethlehem. What was once a symbol of rejection and "no room" is now gloriously filled with the eternal Son of God, the Savior, Christ the Lord. Luke's account reminds us that God sovereignly uses even the decrees of emperors like Caesar Augustus to fulfill ancient promises (Micah 5:2). The announcement comes not to the powerful, but to lowly shepherds in the fields. The sign is humble—a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger—pointing to the great reversal: God enters our darkness, our emptiness, our margins in vulnerability and grace. This manger foreshadows the cross, where the Lamb of God gives Himself as food for the world. Tonight, on this sacred Christmas Eve, the invitation is clear: Come to the manger. Let Christ fill every empty place in your heart—fear with peace, grief with comfort, guilt with forgiveness, loneliness with His presence, and doubt with hope. The echoes of emptiness are silenced in the cry of the newborn King. "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day... a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10–11) Listen now and let the full manger transform your Christmas. Glory to God in the highest!
