  • Rom. 6:1-11 - United with Christ
Your greatest assurance as a Christian--if you've been united with Christ--is that your assurance doesn't depend on you. It depends on Christ and His obedience, appropriated by you by faith and imputed to you by God Himself.

  • God's Righteousness Demonstrated
The Gospel of God - Message 26 - God's Righteousness Demonstrated - Romans 3:25-26. God displayed Jesus publicly as a propitiation for our sins in His blood through faith, and that public display demonstrates His righteousness in dealing with sins of the past and the present. Romans 1:17 tells us, "For in it (the gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'But the righteous will live by faith.'"

  • The Gospel's Precious Liberty Part 2
Galatians 5:1–6 sets before the church both a command and a warning: stand fast in the liberty Christ has secured, and do not return to the bondage of law-keeping as a ground of justification. This sermon, the second in the passage, moves from verse 1 into verses 2–6, expositing Paul's argument that to submit to circumcision as a means of acceptance before God is to abandon Christ entirely and to become a debtor to the whole law. The relationship between faith, grace, and the hope of righteousness by the Spirit is brought to bear on the pastoral and doctrinal stakes of the Galatian error. Main points: - the command of liberty reviewed — two imperatives grounded in one indicative (v. 1) - the consequence of circumcision — Christ profits nothing and the whole law is owed (vv. 2–3) - estrangement from Christ and falling from grace — the gravity of seeking justification by law (vv. 4–5) - faith working through love — the true mark of those who wait for righteousness by the Spirit (v. 6) Scripture references: - Galatians 5:1-6 Free Grace Baptist Church — https://www.freegrace.ca Full transcript & sermon notes: https://sermons.freegrace.ca/sermons/sermon-galatians-5-the-gospels-precious-liberty-part-2 Description generated by Tyrannus.ai: https://www.tyrannus.ai

  • Romans - Pt1
Pastor Jeremiah Gabbard | Romans 1:1-5 The sermon introduces the Epistle to Romans as a foundational text for New Testament doctrine, emphasizing its role in clarifying biblical truth and correcting skewed teachings. The preacher highlights Paul's apostleship and his separation unto the gospel, defining the core message as the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ rather than works-based religion. Key theological themes include the deity and humanity of Christ, the necessity of faith for salvation, and the historical reliability of the resurrection witnessed by many. The exposition serves to align listeners with pure doctrine, urging them to stand firm on the gospel's power to save. The tone is instructional and corrective, aiming to establish a solid theological framework for believers.

  • Grace That Rescues: Salvation by Grace Through Jesus Christ | 1 Peter 1:3–12
What is grace—and what does it actually mean to be saved? In 1 Peter 1:3–12, Peter points us to the great mercy of God and the living hope we have through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Biblical grace is not God simply helping us become better people. Grace is God rescuing guilty, helpless sinners through Jesus Christ. In this message, we examine what God's grace accomplishes in the life of the believer: new birth, justification, redemption, adoption, sanctification, and glorification**. Our salvation rests not on our merit, religious performance, or ability to make ourselves acceptable to God, but entirely on the finished work and righteousness of Jesus Christ. The prophets searched and waited for the salvation that has now been revealed in Christ. The sufferings of Christ were not an accident—they were God's promised plan of redemption, foretold throughout Scripture and fulfilled at the cross. We also consider three warnings for Christians living in a culture that increasingly calls bondage "freedom": • Stop calling your bondage freedom. • Stop building your identity on yourself—find your identity in Jesus Christ. • Do not waste the mercy God has given you. If you have been searching for something deeper than religion, struggling with sin, questioning your identity, or wondering what it truly means to be saved, this message points you away from yourself and toward Jesus Christ alone. Grace does not tell us that our sin is acceptable. Grace opens our eyes to see our sin and turns our hearts to the Savior. Flee to Jesus Christ. Trust in His finished work. Rejoice in His grace and mercy. 🌐Connect with us: https://cornerstonepresbyterian.church

  • Love One Another
The sermon examines 1 John 3 to distinguish true faith from mere profession by highlighting two essential tests: correct doctrine and practical love. It contrasts the hatred of Cain with the sacrificial love of Christ, arguing that genuine justification by faith alone inevitably produces sanctification evidenced by loving the church. The preacher warns against the errors of legalism and antinomianism, asserting that true believers are marked by a desire to obey God and serve their neighbors in deed and truth. This active love serves as the primary evidence that one has passed from death into life and possesses saving faith. Ultimately, the message calls listeners to rest in Christ's righteousness while actively pursuing holiness and unity within the body of believers.

  • Grace, Apostleship, and the Obedience of Faith
Romans 1:5 teaches that grace comes through Jesus Christ and results in gospel service, the obedience of faith, and the proclamation of Christ among all the nations for the sake of His name. Dave Jenkins explains the unique nature of Paul's apostleship, why believers serve from grace rather than for grace, and how genuine faith produces obedience without making obedience the ground of justification. This message calls Christians to rest in Christ alone, serve Him faithfully, and live for the glory of His name.

  • Lecture 7 - The General Epistles - James
How precious the Epistle of James was to the early Jewish believers in their situation. Rejecting pseudonymity, or some kind two stage authorship, the writer can be identified as James, the Lord's brother, as he testifies himself to be "a bondslave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ," (1:1). The primary readers were those who were part of the first New Testament diaspora, scattered throughout Palestine from Jerusalem because of the persecution initiated by Saul of Tarsus who became the Apostle Paul, (Acts 8:1-4). The Epistle is full of practical teaching for the Christians, rich or poor, who formed a mercantile group and an agricultural group. The author is calling for not simply some kind of orthodox belief in God but real faith evidenced in practical works. The believers must guard their speech, seek wisdom and guidance from God, being "doers of the word."
