We are told not to quench or grieve the Spirit and are warned about those who resisted the Spirit, these are the ones who killed the prophets.
Church history is full of people proudly clinging to doctrines that ensure the Holy Spirit is quenched, grieved, and resisted. But our lives are to look like the book of Acts. On the pages of the book of Acts, we read the prescription for the normal Christian life: The Holy Spirit moving upon people to revive and empower them for ministry. The gospel is a gospel of power. It needs to be shared in Holy Spirit power, not with our human efforts. We need the full power of the Holy Spirit working in and through our lives.
