Maddie starts things off by talking about how getting COVID-19 right before NCAA Division II regionals derailed her best college cross country season. She also expressed her pride in watching younger brother Myles quality for nationals with Nebraska-Kearney. They shared how they enjoy spending time together and running morning workouts side-by-side. Maddie opens up about her personal struggles with eating disorders that started in high school and became worse at Iowa Central and Indian Hills community colleges. She says time at home and an understanding Kearney coach and supportive teammates have been instrumental in helping her avoid a "self-harm" incident for a year. They retell the story of how Myles celebrated a bit too much while winning his first state title as a sophomore. Myles also tells what he learned from losing his bid to win a third consecutive state title in the mile, to a teammate even, as a senior. He also describes the bad timing when he left to run at Gonzaga University and the COVID pandemic came along to foil those plans. Depressed, he left Washington to come back to the Midwest and join Maddie at Kearney. The two offer what fields they want to go into after college. They also share their goals for the upcoming season and if they have started Christmas shopping for each other.
