Alrighty, let’s see…we have not congratulated the 2 most recent additions to the Hall of Fame, elected back in January, Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones. They joined Jeff Kent who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee, receiving 14 out of 16 votes, surpassing the 75% threshold required for induction. Kent is recognized as the all-time leader in home runs for a second baseman.

Do you like the choices?

Jeff Kent Was LONG overdue, great hitter and under appreciated in San Francisco. 17 year career as he led the league in 2 offensive categories while also winning 1- MVP, and landing votes for MVP 6 other times! 5X All-Star, Silver Slugger winner 4x. Had a 9 yr stretch where he was one of the BEST players (1997-2005). In that span he averaged 147 Games, 43 2Bs, 28 HRs, 110 RBIs, .296 Avg,.529 Slugging, .895 OPS, and a 132 OPS+. He was so consistent it was boring. That is probably why it took him until the Contemporary Baseball Era committee elected him. Excellent choice.
