That’s right, we cel­e­brate one of the all time great super­stars, Pen­guins lif­er and lat­er own­er, The Mag­nif­i­cent One — Mario Lemieux. Super Mario did it all for the Pen­guins, lead­ing them to two cups as a play­er before his career was cut short as he retired in 1997 in the midst of a bat­tle with Hodgk­in’s lym­phoma. He bat­tled back and returned to the game in 2000, still an absolute force and now also the Pen­guins own­er. Scored per­haps the most icon­ic Cana­di­an goal of all time — the game win­ner against the Sovi­ets in the 1987 Cana­da Cup!
