We briefly talk about Mel Anglestad, one of 4 NHL play­ers to don the num­ber on an NHL ice sur­face — shout out to friend of the show Keen­er, from Keen­er’s Jer­seys, who also hap­pened to dis­cuss in his excel­lent col­umn this week — if you’re not give him a sub­scribe, col­umn is always fun!

Then we break down the Stan­ley Cup semis — Dal­las and Car­oli­na look like com­plete­ly dif­fer­ent teams as they have got­ten off to slow starts, while Flori­da and Edmon­ton seem to be on a crash course col­li­sion to a rematch of last year’s finals.

Then we talk top pend­ing UFA’s, with a lit­tle sprin­kling of some ear­ly off-sea­son per­son­nel changes — all this, plus 3 new Can­Con bangers for your earholes!

After a week away, the boys are back at it with a real beau­ty — we’re talkin’ all about the age­less won­der, num­ber one flow bro, # 68 — Jaromir Jagr! Through­out his illus­tri­ous 37 (!!!) year pro­fes­sion­al play­ing career, ol’ Jags has amassed over 2000 pro­fes­sion­al games played, notch­ing 949 goals and 1400 assists … and he’s still play­ing for Klad­no, the team he owns in his hometown!

Then, we pour one out for your Win­nipeg Jets, whose fan­tas­tic 2024⁄25 cam­paign has come to an end with their 2nd round loss to the Dal­las Stars — we talk about what went wrong and look towards a busy off sea­son and a promis­ing future.

Final­ly, we do a quick hit on the final four remain­ing and make some half-assed pre­dic­tions on who might hoist the cup!

Under­stand­ably, this one’s been cir­cled on our cal­en­dars since the begin­ning of Sea­son 7 and fit­ting­ly for a super­sized super­star, we’re giv­ing you a super­sized episode! That’s right, we cel­e­brate one of the all time great super­stars, Pen­guins lif­er and lat­er own­er, The Mag­nif­i­cent One — Mario Lemieux. Super Mario did it all for the Pen­guins, lead­ing them to two cups as a play­er before his career was cut short as he retired in 1997 in the midst of a bat­tle with Hodgk­in’s lym­phoma. He bat­tled back and returned to the game in 2000, still an absolute force and now also the Pen­guins own­er. Scored per­haps the most icon­ic Cana­di­an goal of all time — the game win­ner against the Sovi­ets in the 1987 Cana­da Cup!

Then we’ve got our super-sized 2025 play­off pre­view, where we pre­dict the out­comes of all the series and tell you who we think will be drinkin’ from Lord Stan­ley! We also give you a recap of Game One from your Win­nipeg Jets, who beat the pesky Blues 5 – 3 in front of an absolute­ly bonkers white out crowd!

It’s Mon­day and that means it’s a ban­ner day for hock­ey fans, as your favourite co-hosts are back once again to talk a lit­tle hock­ey! Today’s episode is Sea­son 7, Episode 25 (#65) The Shaw, or Shawzy if you’re feel­in’ it. Andrew Shaw was an agi­ta­tor on the ice, the kind of fel­la you want on your team but you hate to play again — he paid the price to make the play and has the bat­tle scars, and two cups, to prove it! He was­n’t always the most elo­quent when it came to speak­ing his mind — let this be a les­son to you kids at home, don’t always say and do as your favourite play­ers say and do!

Then we do a league wide wrap up and tell you all about the week that was for Jets fans, plus give you a break down on the upcom­ing play­offs as we enter the final week of play — who is in, who is out and who has tee times booked for next weekend!

Final­ly, we’ve got stats lines o’ plen­ty — The Bread­man con­tin­ues to deliv­er, Adam’s foxy when it comes to dish­ing up the apples and we tip our hats to the West­ern Michi­gan Bron­cos, who won their first NCAA Frozen Four in their first Frozen Four appear­ance!

After a week away, the boys are back with a real beau­ty of an episode — you might say we real­ly nailed this one! That’s right we’re yakking about one of the biggest draft busts of all time, #64 Nail Yakapov! He may have went first over­all in 2012, but he was out of the league 6 years lat­er after bounc­ing from the Oil­ers to the Blues and final­ly to the Avs. He returned to moth­er Rus­sia and have carved him­self out a nice career, still play­ing today…

And speak­ing of Russ­ian play­ers who have done okay for them­selves, we talk exten­sive­ly about the Great 8 — the NHL’s new all time lead­ing goal scor­er, Alex Ovechkin! Ol’ Ovi tied Wayn­er’s long­stand­ing accom­plish­ment with 2 against the Black­hawks, and then scored num­ber 895 in a loss against the Islanders while we recorded.

Final­ly, we’ve got a trio of stat lines of the week, plus we talk about oth­er records that might nev­er be broken.

As co-host Tom says, today’s episode is a bit of an ugly num­ber — we’re talk­ing Tyler Ennis, one of a hand­ful of fel­las to have worn the num­ber 63! He played with 5 teams, most notably in Buf­fa­lo with the Sabres, but also had stops in Min­neso­ta, Toron­to, Ottawa and his home­town Edmon­ton. Won some Cana­di­an gold in junior and once scored 6 goals in a game for the Med­i­cine Hat Tigers — nice work bud!

Then we do our week­ly round up to see how the play­off pic­ture has shift­ed — who is in, who is out and whose sea­son is slip­pin’ away.

The fel­las are back at once again, this week we’re talkin’ Hagelin, as in Carl Hagelin. This Swedish for­ward has some supreme­ly sick flow and won a cou­ple of cups play­ing on Pitts­burgh’s vaunt­ed HBK line in 2016 and 2017. He also scored 2 pow­er play mark­ers in front of more than 104, 000 fans while at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan — so ya know, he’s not just a fine head of hair!

Then we talk about this past Fri­day’s Jets-Stars mar­quee matchup, with an out­come that we saw com­ing, but the rest of the hock­ey intel­li­gentsia did­n’t hold much hope for. We’ll tell you what the Jets did right, and break down the rest of the sea­son as we march towards the playoffs!

Final­ly, we give you a quick Garage League of Hock­ey play­off update — your Chester’s Chick­ens pecked out a win to stay alive, as cohost Tom ate some pre-game spaghet­ti and had him­self a heck­u­va performance!

The boys are comin’ in hot today, talk­ing about one of the finest pow­er for­wards in recent mem­o­ry, the NASH­ER — Rick Nash! 

He plied his trade for a num­ber of years in Colum­bus, play­ing for some real­ly bad teams before mov­ing onto the Big Apple, and then fin­ish­ing up with a short stint in Bean­town. We’re firm believ­ers that he prob­a­bly would’ve hit the Hall if not for to many hits to the ol’ nog­gin — a career cut short by con­cus­sions and oth­er assort­ed injuries. Always answered the bell for Team Cana­da too — has half a dozen medals to prove it too! Thanks Nash­er, you’re a real beauty!

Then we break down a real­ly event­ful trade dead­line that saw more than 30 trades take place in the month of March alone! Mikko Ranta­nen’s on the move again, Brad Marc­hand finds a new home that’s fond of rats, and your Win­nipeg Jets made a cou­ple of slick moves to bring in some cagey vets, includ­ing show fav Bran­don Tanev! Who won the dead­line — we’re here to tell ya!
