Season of the Undying released alongside the Shadowkeep expansion in September 2019 and at just 70 days long is the shortest Season in all of Destiny’s history. Despite it’s length this season’s lore has some very deep cuts as it picks up a number of loose ends going back to Destiny 1 and also kicks off a year of expanding player’s knowledge about the events of the Collapse and the history of Destiny’s world.
Timestamps:
This is the second in a series of videos taking the written lore & stories from a Destiny Release and reading them out kind of like an audiobook, with chapters grouping different stories into logical groups, and an attempt is made to put them in a broadly chronological order.
Anything I have left out is because it does not relate to what I think were the main narrative threads, beats, goals or objectives of a particular release as far as I can tell - for example a lot of exotic armour during Shadowkeep had lore tabs that are there to give some colour to or reflect the characteristics of their specific Class and it’s relation to it’s exotic perks - there are exceptions such as The Bombardiers during Season of the Dawn and I always aim to include as much as I can without having to include a chapter called “Random, unrelated stories”.
This is very much a fan project by an amateur so please forgive any novice recording, voiceover, mixing and editing mistakes which I hope to repeat less of in the next one.
Images are generally taken from Press Kits, in-game screenshots and concept art created for Bungie. Music comes from Destiny OSTs that I’ve collected and supplemented with music from the Destiny Content Vault that has been archived by Last City Radio.
I want to thank everyone involved at Ishtar Collective, Destinypedia, Destiny Lore Vault, the DestinyLore subreddit and Last City Radio for their work that allows fan projects like this to exist, and as always to all the writers, artists, designers and developers at Bungie who create Destiny.
