Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return to the world of Yakuza and drive some taxis, fight a bear, become an idol, and play some baseball, because it’s a Yakuza game. We talk about the wild and very intricate story, all the new minigames and mechanics, and where it ranks among the rest of the series.
Also apologies for the audio in the first half. Jared’s mic decided to act on its own and be real loud for no reason!
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) continue their deep dive into the Yakuza series by taking a look at the live action film adaptation of the first game. We talk about the bizarre storytelling, nearly half of the story being original content, and everything else being a mess.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) become teen detectives and look at a lot of dead bodies between both Famicom Detective Club games. We discuss The Missing Heir which is a tad frustrating gameplay wise, but still a good story, along with The Girl Who Stands Behind which might have the most messed up ending of a Nintendo developed game.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) continue their dive through the Yakuza series with Yakuza 4. We talk about all the new characters introduced as this is the first game to introduce multiple protagonists, all of the interconnected and winding story beats, and how this might be the weakest game in the series thus far.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return to the world of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan to discuss the anime OVAs that have recently been put out officially overseas. We talk about the similarities to the live-action adaptation with regards to one episode and then breakdown the three other episodes that differ from that adaptation.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return to the world of Yakuza with a game that neither of them have experienced. We discuss the new additions, what’s changed from the ps3 to the new remaster, the story, and Kiryu being even more of a dad.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) return to the world of JoJo, and specifically, live action JoJo with the recent live action adaptation of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan. We discuss all three episodes, how the adaptation works well with the source material, and whether or not we’d like to see this mini series come back.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) decide to reminisce about an old friend, the PlayStation Vita. We discuss our thoughts on why Sony decided to put it out to pasture very early in its lifespan, the poor decision to make memory cards incredibly expensive, the Vita TV, and some of our favorite Vita games.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) put their mystery hats on this week as they dive deep into Root Film, the spiritual successor to Root Letter. Before that, we talk about Sony’s latest kerfuffle around them shutting down the PS3, PSP, and Vita digital stores later this year and how much that will suck for preservation. After that, we discuss Root Film’s fun twists and turns that left us trying to figure things out all the way until the very end of the game.
Jared and Anne Ladyem (anneladyem.com) dive into two very different games. We begin with the latest Love Live! game that’s a port of the arcade version of School Idol Festival and how despite it being free, isn’t the Love Live! game you’d want to seek out instead of the mobile games. After that, we dive into It Takes Two and it’s cooperative gameplay which is very good, but has a lot of narrative problems that are a bummer.
