It’s been a terrific three episodes with Senchel Matthews, Master Grower and future landowner. Senchel’s passion for land was passed down from her grandmother who was a former sharecropper. Senchel’s knowledge grew through her experience with Heifer International and taking advantage of programs like the New Farmer Academy offered through Tennessee State University & University of Tennessee Extensions and hosted at Agricenter International. Seeing the intertwined nature of people and land and food and the importance of creating beneficial and sustainable ecosystems is paramount to future generations. Thank you to Senchel for the insightful conversation.

Driving through the Mississippi Delta one fall, Michael Waters surveyed the ocean of white that enveloped the landscape. As he pondered this fiber resource growing from the fertile Delta soil, he knew he had to do something with it. What resulted was a hyper-local approach to sourcing cotton from top growers to create dirt to shirt product for consumers. Homegrown. Homesewn.
