Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame in their opening game of the 2024 college football season and share their predictions for the matchup at Kyle Field in College Station.

Texas A&M quarterback Connor Weigman returns from injury and should have plenty of help from returning players Rueben Owens and Moose Muhammad, plus, receiver transfers Cyrus Allen (Louisiana Tech), Jabre Barber (Troy) and tight end Tre Watson (Fresno State).

The Aggies rebuilt the offensive line around left-side returnees Trey Zuhn III and Chase Bisontis, supplementing them with Kolinu’u Fauulu (Utah) and Ar’maj Reed-Adams (Kansas).

Texas A&M builds its defense around a fearsome front seven that includes transfers Nic Scourton (Purdue) and Scooby Williams (Florida) in addition to returnees Shemar Turner and a defensive backfield that includes All-Southeastern Conference cornerback candidate Tyreek Chappell.

Notre Dame adds Elko’s former pupil, Riley Leonard, at quarterback, and a new offensive coordinator (though not new to Notre Dame) in Mike Denbock.

The Fighting Irish lost three starters on the offensive line but have plenty of skill in Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, Mitchell Evans, Kris Mitchell and Beaux Colins.

Coordinator Al Golden leads a Notre Dame defense that should be one of the nation’s best thanks to All-American candidates Xavier Watts and Howard Cross III, plus, defensive lineman Rylie Mills.

It looks like a near toss-up on paper; will Kyle Field prove to be the difference-maker in this one?
