Second Class Cinema: The B-Movie Experience episodes

  • BONUS EPISODE 1 - Interview with director Matt Jaissle
I know it's Kid's Movie Month and all here on Second Class Cinema but this opportunity was too good to pass up. We had Matt Jaissle, the director of Back From Hell, reach out to us wanting to talk about his movie!  He had listened to our review of Back From Hell which was also our first episode (if you'd like to listen to it, enter at your own risk because it's a bit rough around the edges).  Anyway, we had him give us a call and we chatted about his movie and his upcoming screening at The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX (drafthouse.com/movies/back-from-hell/austin).
We partnered with Tom's other podcast The Studio Cellar (www.thestudiocellar.com) to bring you this interview and discussion with Matt.
ALSO you can finally find the Boston 48 Hour Film Project that Tom directed here: www.fatfootfilms.com/best-man-boston-48-hour-film-project

  • Episode 34 - Sidekicks (1992)
It's still Kid's Movie Months here and Tom chose the 1992 movie Sidekicks starring Johnathan Brandis and Chuck Norris!!!  YAAAAAY!!!  Special guest Eric comes on to help us with this childhood gem. Only by listening will you know how great Joe Piscopo really was in this movie.
And sponsoring the Kid's Movie Month is none other than Fat Foot Films http://www.fatfootfilms.com! They're pretty awesome people over there so you should check out their new feature length comedy How I Dumped My Ex-Boyfriends Body!  Also coming soon to their site, the short 48hfp that Tom directed!

  • Episode 33 - Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings (2002)
For the second episode of Kid's Movie Month we had our friend Aaron come over with a movie and he brought the 2002 fantasy movie Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings!  Not only did he bring that but he also came with a very big secret to let us in on as well, as a matter of fact we all let everyone in on a personal secret. We'll cover the movie and much, much more all on a great episode of Second Class Cinema.
Sponsoring Kid's Movie Month (for no other reason than they are also giant children like us) is Fat Foot Films!  Check out their site http://www.fatfootfilms.com/ for a back log of our episode AND tons of other great content! Coming to the site soon is a short comedy that was shot for the Boston 48hr Film Project that Tom directed and produced along side Fat Foot Films AND Aaron too.  AWESOME!

  • Episode 32 - Stay Tuned (1992)
It's time to kick off Kid's Movie Month! YAAAAAAY!!!  To kick it off, Brittany picked the 1992 kid's comedy Stay Tuned.  Arguably not a b-movie but hey it wasn't profitable and not many people I've met have actually watched it so fudge off.
We change it up this month and focus on 2 main questions;  was the movie successful for kids at the time, and then would it be successful for kids today? Special guest Taryn helps us break this movie down.  And out of respect for the youngsters, we employ the "Fudge" rating system.
Oh and let's not forget that Kid's Movie Month is brought to us by Fat Foot Films!  Check out their website where you'll be able to check out new episodes of the show and soon you'll be able to see the short movie Tom directed!

  • Episode 31 - Counterforce (1988)
On this week's episode we discuss Erik's selection, the 1988 action movie Counterforce!  Listen on as we're both confused and bewildered with this movie's motivations, plot, characters, and whatever the hell else is even in a movie.

  • Episode 30 - Death Force (1978)
In this episode Tom picked the 1978 blaxploitation revenge film Death Force. AKA Vengeance is Mine. Alternate title: Fighting Mad. Ratings were all over the place and almost entirely ruined by one specific moment of the movie. If you've seen this film you might know what it is. All of that and more as we discuss successes, failures and risks of this samurai vengeance story!

  • Episode 29 - Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977)
On this week's episode, Brittany selects the 1977 killer bed classic Death Bed: The Bed That Eats! I think the only way to truly understand it's meaning is to indulge in as many drugs as the creators of this film did. Find out what our ratings are of this absurd 70's horror movie about a bed eating people.

  • Episode 28 - Sudden Death (1995)
This week is Erik picked the 1995 Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Sudden Death. Erik chose this movie purely based on it's "second class stakes", a fireman must save the Vice President held hostage at the Stanley Cup by a bunch of mean guys. Sure sounds second class to us. This is by far our longest episode yet and we're not quite sure why.

  • Episode 27 - Only The Strong (1993)
Tom selects this week's topic of discussion with a movie from his childhood, 1993's Only The Strong starring none other than Mark Dacascos.  We find out that capoeira is a pretty cool thing to watch, or at least we hear Tom defend this movie due to his bias growing up with it. Either way we still cover it's successes, failures and enjoy a nice ratings session. We also have first time guest Tyler on to help us break this movie down.

  • Episode 26 - WolfCop (2014)
Brittany's selection this week was the fresh 2015 release, WolfCop! Sounds easy right? A wolf that's a cop. This movie's name alone set up expectations it just couldn't quite live up to. See if our ratings and reactions were anything like yours as we break down the successes, failures and risks of this werewolf-comedy, cop romp.
