Today I am joined by art historians Mell Taylor and Dr. Emma Cahill Marron to explore the earliest appearance of the portrayal of parrots in medieval and early modern works; why these birds were thought to be so special, where they came from and who was it that supplied the growing demand in Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries. We'll also discuss Katherine of Aragon and Mary I's use of parrots in real life. Enjoy!
