Cs: Štěpán seděl v čekárně nemocnice.
En: Štěpán sat in the hospital waiting room.

Cs: Bylo jaro a vonělo květinami.
En: It was spring, and the air was fragrant with flowers.

Cs: Venku zpívali ptáci, ale Štěpán je neslyšel.
En: Outside, the birds were singing, but Štěpán didn't hear them.

Cs: V mysli měl jedinou otázku: co se stalo v laboratoři?
En: He had only one question on his mind: what happened in the laboratory?

Cs: Laboratoř byla tajná.
En: The lab was secret.

Cs: Skryta pod zemí, plná moderních přístrojů a vědeckého vybavení.
En: Hidden underground, it was full of modern instruments and scientific equipment.

Cs: Ale něco se pokazilo.
En: But something went wrong.

Cs: Nikdo nevěděl co.
En: No one knew what.

Cs: Všichni pohledem obvinili Štěpána.
En: Everyone’s gaze accused Štěpán.

Cs: Ale on nevěřil, že za to může.
En: But he didn't believe he was responsible.

Cs: Vedle něj seděla Jitka, jeho kolegyně.
En: Next to him sat Jitka, his colleague.

Cs: Pragmatická a vždy připravená.
En: Pragmatic and always prepared.

Cs: Četla si zprávu na mobilu, ale Štěpán cítil, že ví víc.
En: She was reading a message on her phone, but Štěpán felt she knew more.

Cs: Možná znala pravdu.
En: Maybe she knew the truth.

Cs: „Jitko,“ řekl Štěpán tichým hlasem, zatímco se díval na bílé dlaždice podlahy, „můžeš mi něco říct o tom, co se skutečně stalo?"
En: "Jitko," Štěpán said softly, while looking at the white tiles on the floor, "can you tell me something about what really happened?"

Cs: Jitka zavřela mobil a podívala se na něj.
En: Jitka closed her phone and looked at him.

Cs: „Mám určité podezření,“ začala pomalu.
En: "I have certain suspicions," she began slowly.

Cs: V místnosti bylo ticho, slyšeli jen tikání hodin.
En: The room was silent, only the ticking of the clock could be heard.

Cs: „Musíme zjistit, kdo je odpovědný,“ pokračovala, „ale nevím, jestli mi budeš věřit."
En: "We need to find out who is responsible," she continued, "but I don't know if you'll believe me."

Cs: Štěpán se zamyslel.
En: Štěpán pondered.

Cs: Věděl, že někdy býval nedůvěřivý.
En: He knew he had sometimes been distrustful.

Cs: Ale potřeboval její pomoc, musel se naučit spolupracovat.
En: But he needed her help, he had to learn to cooperate.

Cs: „Věřím ti,“ odpověděl rozhodně.
En: "I trust you," he replied firmly.

Cs: „Musíme spolupracovat."
En: "We have to work together."

Cs: Jitka se jemně usmála.
En: Jitka smiled gently.

Cs: „Dobře.
En: "Alright.

Cs: Myslím, že někdo z týmu neměl správný přístup k vybavení.
En: I think someone from the team didn’t have the right access to the equipment.

Cs: Mám důkazy."
En: I have evidence."

Cs: Tento kousek informace byl pro Štěpána zásadní.
En: This piece of information was crucial for Štěpán.

Cs: Spring byl znovu krásný a Štěpán zjistil, že síla je v jednotě, ne ve strachu.
