On this weeks show, 2020 NYCHA Sr. Youth Scholarship Cutting Champion: Ryan Rapp sits down with Kaden, Cody, and Porterfield to talk an action pack week of youth cutting that just concluded in Fort Worth, TX. We chat all about Ryan, how he intends to use his scholarship money, and what it was like having "youth week" during COVID. Be sure to stick around for a breakdown of Wesley Galyean's win in the 5/6 Open as well as the dominating performance Rodrigo put on in the intermediate division of the Classic/Challenge!
What a treat this week... 9X NFR Qualifier: JoJo Lemond sits down with the Section K boys to talk about his rodeo career, growing up in a rodeo family, having to manage being a kid with a ton of talent, and lastly how he got to be involved with cutting horses. The Lemond legacy is carried on through JoJo's oldest son: Newt, middle son: Gunnar, and his youngest daughter: Shaylee. JoJo's drive to be not only a good cowboys but an even better Dad and Husband is very evident, in how he describes his day to day operation. The best phrase to describe JoJo Lemond: Family man. On this week’s episode, Jay Winborn joins the show to address the new rule changes at the 2020 Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular. We discuss the mandatory stall rule, the back number rule, and the guys also have some other questions about the current state of the National Cutting Horse Association. Thanks to Jay for choosing to come on the show to talk about and hopefully inform folks as to why these changes are necessary.
The Section K Podcast is back, and so are horse shows! This week, Kaden and Cody are joined by Evan Moffitt, and new guest: Kody Porterfield to talk about The Non-Pro Plus the Open that was the first major cutting horse event after the shutdown, due to COVID-19. The guys talk about being back in the horse show atmosphere, Wesley Galyean's unbelievable 230 in the 5/6 Open finals, and even some possum hunting in the RV park. We also recap Porterfield's trip to Abilene for the Texas High School Finals to help in the cutting, and lastly Kody boasts a little bit about winning the 1st Annual Rope N Stroke, alongside Mr. JoJo Lemond.
The boys are back this week, with an interview with Chris Dawson of Dawson Performance Horses and the popular podcast: Cowhorse Full Contact. Chris talks about showing early in life in Appaloosa classes, which he feels is the reason for a lot of his success showing and training performance horses for multiple disciplines today. We also dive into the origin of Cowhorse Full Contact and their process of recording and releasing content, which consists of Chris, Russell Dilday, and Producer Ben Self.
