On this episode of the Secular Homeschool Revolution, I, Ashley, discussed the Make Homeschool Safe Act, a complex issue balancing homeschooling freedom with child safety. I acknowledged the potential for abuse and neglect within homeschool settings and emphasized my commitment to children's well-being. We examined the historical use of "freedom," especially within BIPOC communities, and the need for critical thinking. I detailed the Act's provisions, including banning abusers from homeschooling, preventing isolation during investigations, and ensuring educational standards and access to disability services. I addressed concerns about government overreach and highlighted Texas's lax homeschool laws as an example of the need for such legislation. I urged listeners to advocate for children's safety and educational rights. I closed by encouraging everyone to keep revolutionizing because education is activism.
