Bill Tenney started work earlier this year as the new CEO of ASIS International. Unlike his predecessors, Bill has a background as a security executive with considerable corporate security expertise – in business, government, and the military (he is a Navy Veteran). His work has included securing data, and enabling operations in over 40 countries at over 10,000 global locations.

Bill Fox is internationally renowned for his knowledge and expertise in violence risk reduction and behaviour management, and in particular for having directed learning and innovation in this field for the past three decades. He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Maybo a company he started 28 years ago which focusses on workplace conflict and violence reduction. Bill is also an inspiration behind the newly launched Workplace Violence Reduction Awards (WVRAs).

Bob Martin has over 35 years’ experience in the Petrochemical industry, and worked in a diverse range of business operational environments before establishing a specialism in security. He brought with him a range of skills, for example on strategy development, integration, management systems, data management and crucially the importance of the ‘value add’ proposition and the need to show a profit. He has worked extensively as a security consultant.

Bob is the 2024 UK OSPAs Lifetime Achievement winner and the first ever entrant to the Security Hall of Fame.

This podcast provides a chilling insight into the world of crime. Terry didn't think there was anything inevitable in his early childhood that would lead to him becoming a persistent priority offender in his mid teens. Led by older boys and attracted by the high rewards of fraud, theft and commercial burglary he saw little value in legitimate pursuits and never felt the counsellors appointed to help him were realistic. Eventually he ended up in prison and there developed a drug habit. That governed the next stage of his life, on his release his crimes were driven by the need to pay for drugs. Shoplifting was more lucrative than many alternatives and carried less risks, and drug dealing provided him with access to what he most valued. Nine more prison sentences followed, and then, when he decided enough was enough, drug barons took exception and he suffered multiple stab wounds. Joanna Shapland is a Professor of Criminology at the University of Sheffield having previously been a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford where she directed the first major study of victims, an interest she continues to this day and is the Executive Editor of the International Review of Victimology. Alongside this she has undertaken pioneering research in a range of areas including business crime, restorative justice, and desistance and is currently engaged in research on the offending careers - over 14 years - of persistent offenders. Widely published and globally respected her many achievements led to Joanna receiving an Outstanding Achievement Award from the British Society of Criminology in 2013.

Sissel H. Jore is a Professor in Risk Management and Societal Safety at the University of Stavanger, Norway. She is a recognised global expert for her varied research interests which includes terrorism, counterterrorism, security risk management, and risk perception. Jore is the chair of the Security Defence Speciality Group and is an elected board member of the Nordic Society for Risk Analysis. She has made presentations and been a session chair at many international conferences.

Professor Mike Levi has an international reputation for excellence in researching economic crime which includes money laundering, corruption, cybercrimes, fraud, transnational organised crime and white-collar crimes.  This is reflected in recent major lifetime achievement awards from the British, American and European Societies of Criminology, the Al Thani Rule of Law Committee/UNODC Corruption Research and Education prize and the Tackling Economic Crime Awards.

He has served in a range of advisory roles both internationally (with the European Commission and Parliament, Europol, Council of Europe, UN and World Economic Forum) and nationally (with the UK Home Office and Cabinet Office, and with the Crime Statistics Advisory Committee). He has been a prolific publisher and contributor to debates on how best to tackle frauds and related offences. He has received a range of major lifetime achievement awards including from the Tackling Economic Crime Awards.

In this interview Mike discusses the influence of his first book, The Phantom Capitalists, why the response to money laundering has been misplaced, how efforts to reclaim proceeds from criminals have under achieved, and why so many fraud cases have failed and where we look for remedies.

Annette Kimitei has over 20 years’ experience in the leadership of private security in East Africa and specifically Kenya. 

She is currently Managing Director of one of the major security suppliers and has been active in security associations including Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) where she has led the case for improved conditions, higher standards and greater diversity (amongst other things) in the security sector. Annette is a multi-award winner including as an individual, an OSPA for ‘Outstanding Security Director’, and for her company, ‘Outstanding Contract Security Company’.

Mike Croll’s early career included working as an Army Bomb Disposal Officer and a Counter Terrorist Search Advisor. Later he was Head of Overseas Security at the FCO, and then held a similar appointment with the EU providing security for European diplomats, before becoming Director of Operations at the UN Department of Safety and Security. After several years in commercial and NGO security, he is now a Senior Lecturer in Security, Risk and Resilience.  

Paul Harvey is an Executive Board Director and shareholder at Ward.  He is actively involved in initiatives to counter terrorism and to advancing security as a profession. These include: Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), International Executive (and former UK Chair) of the TINYg international counterterrorism network, Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (F.ISRM), member of the Executive Leadership Group at The City Security Council (CSC) and a Member of the Security Institute.  Paul is a recipient of the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award at the Security & Safety Entrepreneur (SSEA) Awards.

Nick Dynon is a licensed security consultant based in New Zealand who works for one of the country’s leading integrators. He has a government background in immigration and border security; has served as a diplomat; and in the military. He is editor of three magazines: the New Zealand Security Magazine, the Line of Defence Magazine and Fire NZ Magazine. He has regularly contributed to debates on New Zealand security specifically and the security sector generally.
