Have you ever wondered what it was like to travel through the desert like the Israelites? There are two special Rabbis who trek through the desert for Seder along with lots of others who join the celebration. Men, women and children band together with their Torah's in their back packs, water, special Seder plates, haggadahs and food. They climb up steep rocks and walk the desert to find that just right spot to begin their Seder. They ask the Four questions and look for answers as they listen to the story of the Exodus.
Young readers can look and learn about Passover. Actual photos of the event are filled with people, sharing, climbing and experiencing the journey together. The adventure Rabbi Passover Seder in Moab combines the ancient traditions of the Jewish Seder with the inspiration of the Red Rock Desert.
A Special Place for a Passover Seder
A group of families travel through a desert to find a spot to have a Passover seder in Moav, Utah. Along the way they travel through sandy washes, over rocks, and up sandstone that is slanted. They carry a Torah and other supplies in backpacks. They set up their plates and other dinner items for an unforgettable Passover dinner. When the dinner is over, they have a special way of closing out Passover.
It was really interesting to read about this large group of people who traveled through the desert to find a special place to celebrate Passover. People from what looked like many families came together to hear the story of the Exodus. I really liked seeing that the children had their own specialized haggadahs to read from and that the symbols on the seder table were explained so the children who read this book will have a better understanding of what they represent for the Passover meal.
